As the Dallas Cowboys gear up for their annual Thanksgiving showdown against the Washington Commanders, they’ll encounter a familiar face on the opposing sideline. Noah Brown, a former Cowboy and recent addition to the Commanders’ roster, is set to make his return to AT&T Stadium with a new team. The presence of Brown, who was recently signed by Washington after being released by the Houston Texans, adds an intriguing layer to this NFC East rivalry.

On August 28, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler broke the news that Brown would be joining the Commanders. “Source: WR Noah Brown signing with #Commanders. Will join active roster. Washington gets much-needed receiver help,” Fowler posted on X (formerly known as Twitter). The move came swiftly after Brown was let go by Houston on August 27, showcasing how quickly the wide receiver market can shift.

Noah Brown’s Impact: A Closer Look

Noah Brown’s tenure with the Cowboys, spanning five seasons, saw him contribute mainly in a depth role. His career numbers—66 games, 980 receiving yards, and 7 touchdowns—reflect his position on the team’s depth chart during his time in Dallas. However, Brown’s breakout moment came during the 2022 season, where he recorded 43 receptions for 555 yards and three touchdowns.

The 2023 season with the Houston Texans saw Brown take his game to another level, particularly in three standout performances. In Week 9, during a high-scoring affair against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brown delivered a standout performance with 6 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown. The following week, he outdid himself with 7 receptions for 172 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals. And in Week 15, Brown caught 8 passes for 72 yards and a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans. These games highlighted his ability to be a game-changer, a trait the Cowboys will need to be wary of when facing him as a member of the Commanders.

Looking Ahead: Cowboys vs. Commanders

Dallas faces the Commanders twice this season, with their first matchup slated for Thanksgiving. The second game, set for Week 18, could potentially hold playoff implications for both teams, making these games critical. Brown’s familiarity with the Cowboys’ playbook and his recent form will undoubtedly make him a focal point for Washington’s offensive game plan. Dallas will need to prepare for Brown’s potential impact, drawing on their knowledge of his tendencies and skills.

CeeDee Lamb’s New Deal: A Silver Lining for the Cowboys

While the Cowboys prepare for their season’s battles, including their upcoming games against the Commanders, the offseason drama surrounding CeeDee Lamb’s contract has finally reached a resolution. Lamb, who held out for a new deal, recently signed a four-year, $168 million contract. In a recent statement covered by Heavy’s J.R. DeGroote, Lamb emphasized his focus on the future. “He’s entitled to whatever he’s got to say, as long as we get a deal done, I ain’t got nothing,” Lamb said, referring to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. “Everything is behind us. I’m not worried about nothing. We got what we needed to get done and now it’s time for me to go ball.”

Lamb’s new deal is a major relief for Cowboys fans, who witnessed the wide receiver’s record-setting season last year with 1,749 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. With Lamb committed to Dallas for the foreseeable future, the Cowboys’ receiving corps is primed for another strong season.

As the Cowboys prepare to face the Commanders with Noah Brown now in their ranks, fans should expect an intense and closely contested battle. Brown’s return to AT&T Stadium is sure to add an extra layer of excitement to what is already a highly anticipated matchup.
