The team reveals concerning update on Alabama WR’s injury.

Alabama wide receiver Cole Adams exited the Crimson Tide’s 42-16 victory over South Florida early in the fourth quarter, suffering what appeared to be a significant right arm injury while hitting the ground. He did not return to the game.

Postgame, Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer could not provide a definitive update on Adams’ condition.

“He just had an arm injury,” DeBoer said. “We’ll need to assess the extent of it. Initially, I thought it might be a lower leg issue, but it turned out to be his arm. We’ll evaluate his status throughout the week.

Adams, a redshirt freshman, had taken on the role of punt returner since the season opener against Western Kentucky and was also getting time at wide receiver.

He recorded one catch for five yards during the game. Despite the Crimson Tide’s struggles against USF, they managed to secure the win with a late surge.

With Alabama set to face Wisconsin next week at Camp Randall, there will be questions about who will assume Adams’ role as punt returner if he is unable to play. Freshman defensive back Jaylen Mbakwe made an impact by returning a punt 28 yards in a critical moment of Saturday’s game.

The Alabama-Wisconsin matchup is scheduled for next Saturday in Madison, kicking off at 11 a.m. CT, and will be broadcast on FOX.
