The Miami Dolphins are making headlines by addressing their quarterback situation following the latest injury to starter Tua Tagovailoa. With Tagovailoa sidelined after suffering his third concussion in just 24 months, the Dolphins are taking steps to ensure depth at the position. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Miami is signing former Pro Bowl quarterback Snoop Huntley off the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad.
Huntley, who made the Pro Bowl in 2022 as an alternate, will add experience to the Dolphins’ quarterback room. While fans shouldn’t expect to see Huntley under center in Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks, the move could set the stage for him to challenge for the starting role if Tagovailoa’s recovery extends.

Huntley, 25, has played in 20 NFL games, starting nine, with a career record of 3-6. He’s completed 64.6% of his passes, throwing for 1,957 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. In addition to his passing, Huntley has showcased his dual-threat abilities with three rushing touchdowns.
After a brief stint with the Cleveland Browns during the preseason, Huntley found himself back on the Ravens’ practice squad. Now, in his fifth season, he joins a Dolphins team that sits at 1-1 after a tough loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. With Tagovailoa’s status in question and backup Skylar Thompson the likely starter, Huntley offers much-needed depth and could potentially see playing time in the coming weeks.
While Skylar Thompson is currently the most familiar with head coach Mike McDaniel’s offensive system, Huntley’s experience and skill set could make him a valuable asset if Tagovailoa’s absence extends further. With the Dolphins’ playoff hopes riding on solid quarterback play, Huntley’s arrival brings intrigue and competition to a critical position.
As the Dolphins prepare to face the Seahawks, fans will be watching closely to see how this quarterback situation evolves. Could Huntley emerge as a long-term answer in Miami? Only time will tell, but the Dolphins now have another experienced option to help steer their season in the right direction.
