The Houston Texans have impressed early in the 2024 season, emerging as one of the few undefeated teams left after two weeks. Their strong start includes victories over the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears. However, as the Texans prepare for their Week 3 showdown against the 2-0 Minnesota Vikings, the team has been hit with some devastating news.
NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reported that tight end Brevin Jordan tore his ACL, ending his season prematurely. The young player, who had shown flashes of potential, was seen as a key part of Houston’s offense. Head coach DeMeco Ryans described the injury as “heartbreaking,” further emphasizing how much Jordan meant to the team’s plans.
Jordan, a fifth-round pick in 2021, has battled through injuries but managed to carve out a role for himself. Though he only recorded two catches for seven yards this season, his development was something the Texans were counting on. This season was also the final year of Jordan’s rookie contract, making the injury a particularly tough blow for the 24-year-old.
With Jordan out for the remainder of the season, the Texans will look to veterans like Dalton Schultz and rookie Cade Stover to step up. Schultz, signed in the offseason, now becomes the primary option at tight end, while Stover, a fourth-round pick, could see an expanded role.
Houston’s depth will be tested, but with momentum on their side, the Texans will hope to continue their winning ways against Minnesota despite the loss of one of their promising young talents.
