The Detroit Lions are set to hit the road for the first time this season, traveling to face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3 before their Week 5 bye. Both teams are currently 1-1, but the Cardinals have shown a stronger performance in their opening games.
In terms of injuries, the Lions had several concerns at the start of the week. However, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (quad) has been removed from the injury report after practicing fully throughout the week. Linebacker Alex Anzalone, who is going through concussion protocol, is listed as questionable after sustaining his injury against the Buccaneers in Week 2.
Defensive end Marcus Davenport, who missed Week 2 with a groin issue, is also cleared to play this Sunday with no injury designation.
Rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold missed practice due to illness but is listed as questionable for the game and is expected to be available. Left guard Graham Glasgow showed up on the practice report with a knee injury but is also considered “good” for Sunday’s matchup, according to head coach Dan Campbell.
Unfortunately, the Lions have ruled out two players ahead of the game. Rookie cornerback Ennis Rakestraw, who was a late scratch last week due to a hamstring injury, will not play again as he hasn’t practiced all week. Safety Ifeatu Melifonwu will miss his third consecutive game with an ankle injury and has not participated in practice for the past two weeks, leaving his return uncertain.
As the Lions prepare for their game against the Cardinals, the official inactive list will be updated about 90 minutes before kickoff. For now, it’s confirmed that Rakestraw and Melifonwu will be among the inactives.
