49ers loss most Important player serious injury

The San Francisco 49ers faced a devastating blow regarding defensive tackle Javon Hargrave on Monday. Head coach Kyle Shanahan announced that Hargrave has suffered a partially torn triceps, which will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

This injury comes on the heels of Shanahan praising Hargrave for having his best performance of the season against the Los Angeles Rams. The injury necessitates surgery, and while there is a slim chance he could return later in the playoffs, he is expected to be sidelined for several months.

In better news, Shanahan indicated that Kalia Davis is anticipated to return from Injured Reserve in the coming weeks. The 49ers are exploring all available options to fill Hargrave’s position, with T.Y. McGill and Evan Anderson on the practice squad as potential replacements.

Hargrave had an outstanding Week 3, leading all defensive tackles in total pressures, with only Myles Garrett posting a higher pressure rate among defensive linemen. Losing Hargrave is a significant setback for the team.

Despite his injury, Hargrave managed to re-enter the game in the fourth quarter after initially being hurt.

In addition, linebacker Dee Winters has re-aggravated his ankle injury and will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. Shanahan noted that Winters had earned playing time based on his strong training camp performance and that they had planned to rotate him with De’Vondre Campbell before the injury occurred during a fake punt.

Linebacker Dre Greenlaw is still recovering and remains distant from a return. “I was hoping for midseason, but I haven’t checked in a couple of weeks. It’s still a ways off,” Shanahan said.

Quarterback Brock Purdy is also dealing with back soreness and is day-to-day after taking numerous hits in the previous game.

Christian McCaffrey traveled to Germany over the weekend to consult with a specialist about his troublesome Achilles and will spend a few days there this week for treatment.

The 49ers are optimistic about tight end George Kittle potentially returning to practice this week, while cornerback Charvarius Ward is confirmed to be “good to go.”
