Seahawks’ Star Defender Struggles with Major Injury Worries.
Seattle Seahawks fans are feeling optimistic after the team improved to 3-0 with a victory over the Miami Dolphins, but star defender Leonard Williams’ injury raises concerns. The Seahawks faced two significant injuries during the game, with both Williams and first-round pick Byron Murphy leaving the field.
Heading into Week 3, the team was already managing the absence of star running back Ken Walker due to an abdominal injury. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald, still undefeated in his tenure, mentioned that Williams is dealing with a “midsection issue.”
“I don’t know the severity of it,” Macdonald stated during a September 22 press conference. “There’s a midsection thing. I’m not sure if it’s ribs or something else, but we should have a better idea in the next couple of days.”
Murphy’s injury is also troubling, as he has quickly become an important part of the defense. He suffered a hamstring injury during the game against Miami.
“Byron had a hamstring issue on a double team,” Macdonald added. “We’ll assess it this week.”
The Seahawks signed Leonard Williams to a three-year, $64.5 million contract after acquiring him from the New York Giants in a midseason trade in 2023. It remains uncertain whether either Williams or Murphy will miss time due to their injuries.
The Seahawks will enter their Week 4 matchup against the Lions as 4.5-point underdogs on Monday Night Football.
