The Kansas City Chiefs are off to a stellar start in the 2024 season, boasting a perfect 3-0 record. After conquering the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and Atlanta Falcons, the Chiefs are now gearing up for their first divisional matchup of the year. In Week 4, they’ll face the Los Angeles Chargers on the road in what promises to be a thrilling AFC West showdown.

The Chiefs, eyeing a historic three-peat, have been dominant so far, but the road ahead remains challenging. Their clash with the Chargers is crucial not only for division standings but also to solidify Kansas City’s position as the top contender in the conference.

Ahead of this pivotal game, the Chiefs have made an important addition to their roster. Kareem Hunt, originally drafted by the Chiefs in 2017, has been activated from the practice squad, adding depth to Kansas City’s running back room. This move comes in response to an injury to starter Isiah Pacheco, who is expected to miss six to eight weeks due to a fractured fibula.

Hunt’s return to Kansas City comes after spending several years with the Cleveland Browns. While he’s no longer the young breakout star from his rookie season, Hunt still has plenty left in the tank and could provide a spark to the Chiefs’ offense. Head coach Andy Reid is confident in Hunt’s ability but acknowledges he needs to get into football shape after spending time on the practice squad. “He looks like he’s in decent shape, but he needs game reps,” Reid noted.

The Chiefs’ running back situation now features a mix of experience and youth, with Hunt joining Carson Steele and Samaje Perine in the backfield. Veteran Clyde Edwards-Helaire, currently on the non-football injury list, is eligible to return in Week 5.

As the Chiefs prepare for their first AFC West game of the season, all eyes will be on Hunt and whether he can make an immediate impact on the field. Kansas City’s high-powered offense has been firing on all cylinders, and the addition of Hunt could provide them with another versatile weapon.

Sunday’s matchup against the Chargers will be critical for Kansas City’s pursuit of AFC West dominance. As the Chiefs continue their quest for a third consecutive Super Bowl, every game matters, and their divisional rivals will be eager to challenge their supremacy. With Hunt back in the mix, the Chiefs’ offense might be even more dangerous as they look to keep their undefeated streak alive.
