Texans Reveal Grim Injury Update for WR Nico Collins, Sparking Concerns for Offense
The Houston Texans secured a 23-20 victory over the Buffalo Bills in Week 5 at NRG Stadium, but it came with a setback. Wide receiver Nico Collins, who had just extended his league lead in receiving yards, sustained a hamstring injury during a 67-yard touchdown catch.
Coach DeMeco Ryans described Collins as “day-to-day,” noting that the team will assess his condition as the week progresses. This could suggest uncertainty about his status, especially given Ryans made these remarks shortly after an emotional win. The Texans will closely monitor Collins’ condition as they prepare for their Week 6 matchup against the New England Patriots.
If Collins is forced to miss time, it would be a blow to the Texans’ offense, though they have the depth to compensate for his absence.
“I think he’s the best receiver in football,” said quarterback C.J. Stroud after the game. “When he’s not on the field, it’s tough for us because so much of the offense is built around him. But we’ve got other guys who step up. Hutch [Xavier Hutchinson] played well today. We found a way to win. I hope Nico’s okay and can come back soon, but I’m confident in the depth we have.”
Should Collins miss time, expect Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods, and John Metchie III to see increased roles in the Texans’ offense.
