Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been hit with a $14,069 fine by the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct, following an incident in Week 11 against the Buffalo Bills. The gesture in question, caught on camera, appeared to be Mahomes miming the shape of a gun after throwing a touchdown pass.

The fine adds to what was already a tough game for Mahomes and the Chiefs, as they suffered their first loss of the season in a 30-21 defeat to Buffalo. The loss dropped Kansas City to 9-1, and despite a late push by Mahomes to engineer a comeback, the Chiefs couldn’t overcome a series of key mistakes. Mahomes finished the game with 23 completions for 196 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. However, the Bills’ defense dominated, sacking Mahomes twice and forcing three turnovers, including a crucial interception by safety Taylor Rapp.

Mahomes’ performance this season has been impressive, with the superstar completing 69.5% of his passes for 2,404 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. However, his latest fine for unsportsmanlike conduct comes on the heels of a similar incident last year when he was fined $50,000 for publicly criticizing game officials during a Week 14 loss to the Bills. That outburst followed a late-game penalty that wiped out what would have been a game-winning touchdown.

Despite the fine and the Chiefs’ defeat, Mahomes is known for his resilience and focus, and it remains to be seen how he will handle the latest setback. He has yet to comment publicly on this fine, but last year, after his $50K penalty, Mahomes took responsibility for his actions and vowed to learn from the experience.

As the Chiefs turn their focus to upcoming games, including a crucial Week 12 matchup, Mahomes will undoubtedly look to put both the loss and the fine behind him, with his eyes set on leading Kansas City back to the top of the AFC.
