Mike Macdonald kicked off 2024 by becoming a first-time NFL head coach, and he’s finishing the year as a first-time father.
At a press conference on Wednesday, the Seattle Seahawks coach shared the news that his wife, Stephanie, gave birth to their son, Jack David Macdonald, on Tuesday night.
“Well, I guess the cat’s out of the bag by now,” Macdonald said with a smile. “Steph had our boy last night, and both are happy and healthy. It’s kind of surreal to say out loud, but we’re really excited and feeling blessed. What a woman can do is truly incredible. She’s a warrior, and she’s awesome. I’ll see her later at the hospital.”
Stephanie, a former NFL cheerleader, went into labor earlier in the week, which led to assistant head coach Leslie Frazier stepping in for Macdonald at the Monday press conference.
“I want to thank Leslie and everyone else for holding down the fort. I really appreciate their support and attitude,” Macdonald added.
Macdonald had announced his wife’s pregnancy just before the regular season began, revealing they were expecting in December.
“We just decided to tackle all the big life changes in one year,” Macdonald joked back in September. “Move across the country, get a new job, start a family—why not do it all in the span of 10 months?”
Congratulations to the Macdonald family on this exciting new chapter!
