Packers projected to pick Ohio State playmaker in the first round.

In recent years, the Green Bay Packers have avoided using first-round picks on offensive skill positions, but that could change in the 2025 NFL Draft.

OSU WR Emeka Egbuka named perfect 2024 draft prospect for Panthers

CBS Sports’ Blake Brockermeyer forecasts that the Packers will select Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. Brockermeyer describes Egbuka as a standout for the Buckeyes, noting his versatility as both a key receiving target and a contributor in the run game. He praises Egbuka’s smooth route running, excellent hands, and ability to make big plays from any touch.

While the Packers currently have a talented group of receivers, including Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Bo Melton, none have firmly established themselves as the top option. Watson, Doubs, and Reed have all had strong moments, but consistency has been a concern. The Packers are among the league leaders in dropped passes, a problem that can be difficult to overcome with a young quarterback.

Egbuka, with 743 yards and nine touchdowns in 12 games this season, could fill the number-one receiver role the Packers have been missing since Davante Adams left. Christian Watson, drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft as the potential top target, has been hindered by injuries and dropped passes, preventing him from reaching his full potential. Despite flashes of talent, Watson has struggled with consistency.
