Higgins, who is playing the 2024 season under the franchise tag, will become a free agent at the end of the league year.
Despite a challenging season for the Cincinnati Bengals, Joe Burrow is having one of his most productive years and remains confident in the importance of wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to the team’s success.
Following a 27-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys, Burrow expressed hope that the Bengals can retain Chase, despite challenges with a long-term deal.
While paying Chase could complicate re-signing Higgins, Burrow is optimistic about the Bengals’ ability to bring him back. He emphasized his involvement in the process as Higgins is set to become a free agent in March.
Higgins, 25, has two 1,000-yard seasons under his belt and sought a long-term contract this past offseason. However, after negotiations stalled, he signed the franchise tag for one year.
Burrow praised Higgins as an elite talent who impacts the defense even when not putting up big numbers, noting that his presence forces teams to adjust their defensive strategy.
