The Buffalo Bills are bringing back a familiar face to their roster. Linebacker Nicholas Morrow has re-signed with the team, as first reported by ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg. Morrow will join Buffalo’s active roster as the team deals with a depleted linebacker corps.

Morrow had been with the Bills for most of this season, primarily contributing on special teams. However, he was waived earlier this month and went unclaimed on waivers. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Morrow was scheduled to travel to Green Bay for a workout with the Packers, but the Bills called him back before he could board the flight, presenting an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.

The veteran linebacker initially joined the Bills during the offseason after spending time with the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles. Morrow started 29 games between 2022 and 2023, showcasing his versatility and experience. However, his role in Buffalo had been more limited, as he logged just 44 defensive snaps across 11 games this season while making a significant impact on special teams with 182 snaps—one of the highest totals on the team.

Opportunity Knocks

Morrow returns to a Bills linebacker group that has been ravaged by injuries. Key contributors Matt Milano (groin), Dorian Williams (elbow), and Baylon Spector (calf) are all currently sidelined, leaving Terrel Bernard as the lone fully healthy option at the position.

This injury situation could open the door for Morrow to see an expanded role on defense during his second stint in Buffalo. While he’s been primarily a special teams ace this season, Morrow’s starting experience and familiarity with the Bills’ system make him a valuable depth addition at a critical juncture of the season.

What It Means for the Bills

Buffalo is still fighting to solidify its playoff positioning in a competitive AFC, and depth will be key as they navigate the final stretch of the regular season. Morrow’s return provides much-needed stability and flexibility at a position currently plagued by injuries.

For Morrow, this is a chance to prove he can still be a defensive contributor while maintaining his status as a special teams standout. His experience and adaptability could be pivotal as the Bills aim to make a deep postseason run.

Time will tell how much of an impact Morrow will have in his return to Buffalo, but with the linebacker room in flux, the door is wide open for him to step up when the team needs him most.
