He’s been battling a high ankle sprain since Week 15 but has continued to play through the injury, helping the Chiefs maintain their winning streak.
With the top AFC seed clinched, the Chiefs’ final regular-season game against the Denver Broncos may not require Mahomes to play. Kansas City, with a 15-1 record, remains the favorite to win an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl championship.
