Co-owner Mark Wilf expressed his confidence in the duo during an interview with the Minnesota Star Tribune. “We’re looking forward to a great future with these guys,” Wilf said. “We have tremendous confidence and look forward to their continued leadership of the franchise.”

Since Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell took the helm, the Vikings have posted a remarkable 34-16 regular-season record, including back-to-back 13-win seasons. This season, O’Connell made history as the first Vikings head coach to achieve two 13-win campaigns. A victory in the season finale would secure Minnesota’s second NFC North title in three years under their leadership and the sixth since the Wilf family purchased the team in 2005.
Their success is even more impressive given the significant roster shift this year. After Kirk Cousins departed for Atlanta following six seasons with the Vikings, Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell oversaw a seamless quarterback transition that kept the team at the top of its game.
Contract Talks Looming
Both Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell are under contract through the 2025 season, giving the Vikings a window to secure their services for the long term. Historically, the team has waited until the final year of a contract to negotiate extensions, as they did with former head coach Mike Zimmer and GM Rick Spielman. However, the duo’s immediate success may accelerate that timeline.
The Wilfs have made it clear they believe in the vision and stability Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell bring to the organization. Zygi Wilf emphasized the importance of having the right leadership, saying, “You go through trials and errors, and you hope eventually you come out with the right people. Certainly, in our organization and coaching staff, we do believe we have the best people involved.”
