The Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with several injuries as they head into Sunday’s NFC Championship game against the Washington Commanders.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts revealed he will likely wear a knee brace on his left leg after sustaining an injury during last Sunday’s Divisional Round win over the Los Angeles Rams.
“It’s been progressing,” Hurts said to reporters, per Pro Football Talk.
Despite the injury, Hurts finished the game, but his mobility could be affected in the upcoming matchup with the Commanders.
The Eagles also faced another injury scare when rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell left the game with a shoulder injury. However, he was not listed on Friday’s injury report and is expected to play on Sunday.
Although Hurts and Mitchell appear ready for the game, the Eagles are facing a major concern with their offensive line.
Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens is listed as questionable due to a back injury that kept him out of Thursday’s practice and limited him on Friday. His potential absence could be a big setback for Philadelphia’s offensive line.
If Jurgens is unavailable, Pro Bowler Landon Dickerson would shift to center, with backup Tyler Steen taking over at left guard.
“He’s done it and he’s solid at it,” said Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni of Dickerson’s ability to play center. “He obviously did it at a high level in college. We cross-train our guys, and that’s where we are.”
These injuries could have a significant impact on the Eagles’ rushing attack. With Hurts possibly limited and Jurgens potentially out, the team may face challenges on the ground.
Saquon Barkley has been dominant against the Commanders this season, rushing for 296 yards and four touchdowns in two games. However, when Hurts left the December matchup with a concussion, the Commanders successfully contained Barkley.
The Eagles are six-point favorites at home as they look to secure their second Super Bowl appearance in three years.
