Could the Los Angeles Rams trade Matthew Stafford or Cooper Kupp this offseason? Recent comments from general manager Les Snead have fueled speculation, with his remarks suggesting the team might be open to moving these Super Bowl champions.
Snead hinted at the possibility of trades, saying, “It’ll take someone calling or us reaching out if we want to do that. Those are the things that’ll be determined down the road here,” when asked about Stafford’s future.
When asked about Kupp, Snead remained vague, noting that discussions about restructuring contracts or trades haven’t occurred yet. “We haven’t done it yet,” he explained, acknowledging the looming decisions surrounding veteran players as they approach the end of their contracts.
With Stafford set to carry a $49.6 million cap hit and Kupp at $29.7 million, both players’ futures are in question, especially with Kupp’s injury history. Stafford, at 36, and Kupp, at 31, may not be worth those numbers next season.
Although trading Stafford and Kupp could hasten a rebuild, Snead faces a tough dilemma. The Rams are still competitive with these stars, but dealing them could provide valuable assets to build a strong future, potentially setting up a quicker return to the playoffs.
