Investigators have uncovered new evidence linking Danette Colbert to the death of Telemundo KC reporter Adán Manzano. Manzano was found dead in his New Orleans hotel room on February 7, 2025, while in town to cover the Kansas City Chiefs for Super Bowl LIX.
In the wake of this, Telemundo Kansas City has received an outpouring of support. Steve Downing, the station’s general manager, shared that many personal messages have been sent from the community. The station has also received tributes from the KC Current and local leaders, including Mayor Quinton Lucas.

Manzano’s family has flown in from Mexico. In a statement, they expressed their grief over his sudden passing and the challenge of making funeral arrangements. Manzano’s legacy remains strong, with a motto he often shared: “No le tengas miedo al éxito,” meaning “Don’t be afraid of success.” His dream was to cover a Super Bowl, and he covered three.
A GoFundMe has been created to help his family with funeral expenses. You can visit the page by clicking here.
