The Kansas City Chiefs are heading into the 2025 off-season focused on analyzing what went wrong in Super Bowl 59 and how to ensure it doesn’t happen again. A 40-22 loss in the championship game dashed their hopes of becoming the first NFL team since the 1960s Green Bay Packers to secure three consecutive championships.
Meanwhile, a former Super Bowl champion is dealing with his own personal struggles.
Kadarius Toney, a former Chiefs’ wide receiver, recently found himself at the center of controversy after being arrested. On February 9, 2025, news broke that Toney had been detained in metro Atlanta, Georgia, for allegedly choking his pregnant girlfriend. He has been charged with aggravated assault and obstruction of 911 calls.
A disturbing 911 call made by the victim surfaced, in which she claims Toney attacked her while she was holding her child. Toney briefly spoke out about the incident on social media but quickly deleted the post. In the brief Instagram story, he wore a hat and mask, captioning it, “Mfs say anything when they think they right,” suggesting he believes he is innocent.
As of now, Toney has yet to issue an official statement on the allegations. He currently faces charges including aggravated assault and obstruction/harassment of 911 calls.
