The Athletic’s Dianna Russini has reported that Cousins will inform the Vikings tonight about his decision regarding free agency.
Cousins has received two fully guaranteed contracts from the Vikings, but they seem hesitant to offer another. This reluctance could give the Falcons an opportunity to outbid them. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler views the situation as a “50-50 proposition” between the Vikings and Falcons.
While Minnesota may match any offer from the Falcons, nothing is certain until a deal is struck. If the Falcons miss out on Cousins, they may turn their attention to Baker Mayfield or even Justin Fields. Fields might not be their preferred choice, but Fontenot’s options could be limited if Cousins and Mayfield stay put.
