Arizona Cardinals have added a skilled 25-year-old running back to their roster.
Arizona Sports’ Tyler Drake has confirmed that the Arizona Cardinals intend to sign former Seattle Seahawks running back DeeJay Dallas. Jordan Shultz of Bleacher Report was the first to report the addition.
In Seattle, Dallas was mainly utilized as a punt and kick returner, consistently seeing at least 44% of available snaps since 2020. However, he has not played more than 20% of available offensive snaps in a single season.
In Arizona, he provides depth alongside starting running back James Conner, change-of-pace back Michael Carter, and second-year pro Emari Demercado already on the Cardinals’ roster.
Dallas made the biggest impact in Seattle as a return specialist. In 17 games, he returned 25 punts for 265 yards, averaging 10.6 yards per return. He also had 17 kick returns for 440 yards, averaging 25.9 yards per kick.
Drafted by the Seahawks in the fourth round in 2020 out of Miami, the 5-foot-10, 214-pound running back is the first reported addition to the Cardinals’ offense from outside the team this offseason.
During the legal tampering period’s first day, Arizona focused on bolstering its defense with external free agents, reportedly agreeing to three-year deals with linebacker Mack Wilson Sr., cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting, and defensive tackles Bilal Nichols and Justin Jones.
In the previous season, DeeJay Dallas had 10 carries for 36 yards, playing behind running backs Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet. He also caught six passes on nine targets for 26 yards. Over his NFL career, Dallas has not exceeded 35 carries in a single season.
