Addressing the Car Accident Involvement of Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has issued a statement addressing the recent car accident with which he was associated over the weekend.

Through his attorney, Royce West, Rice released a concise statement on Monday. The statement conveyed Rice’s cooperation with local authorities and expressed his concern for all those affected by the incident.

“On behalf of Rashee Rice, his thoughts are with everyone impacted by the automobile accident on Saturday,” the statement read. “Rashee is cooperating with local authorities and will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly. Any and all requests for comment can be directed to his attorney Mr. Royce West of West & Associates, LLP.”

According to the Dallas Morning News, police in Dallas, Texas, reported on Sunday that they were searching for Rice after a crash involving a vehicle believed to be registered or leased to the 23-year-old occurred on the North Central Expressway around 6:20 p.m. on Saturday. While Rice has not appeared in jail records and it is unclear if he is facing charges, police suspect him as the driver of one of two speeding cars—a Lamborghini and a Chevrolet Corvette—that caused a collision involving six vehicles.

A spokesperson for the Dallas police stated that the Lamborghini and Corvette were speeding in the far left lane and lost control of their vehicles. A dashcam video capturing the crash was released, although it remains uncertain if Rice was driving one of the cars.

Both drivers of the Lamborghini and Corvette fled the scene. Two of the drivers of the other vehicles sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene, while two others were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Rice made significant contributions to the Chiefs as a rookie in 2023, amassing 79 catches for 938 yards and leading the team with 7 touchdowns. He also recorded 26 catches for 262 yards and a touchdown in Kansas City’s four playoff games, including 6 receptions in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
