Browns to Meet with Prospect for Canadian Left Tackle Position

NFL scouts scour every college across the United States in search of promising prospects for NFL Draft Day. Now, this hunt expands beyond borders to include Canada, as seen with the Cleveland Browns and several other teams.

One notable prospect catching the attention of both NFL and Canadian Football teams is Giovanni Manu from British Columbia University. The Browns, via “The Dawgs” podcast, are among those expressing interest in him.

Standing tall at 6 feet 7 inches and weighing 352 pounds, Manu possesses the physical presence sought after by many NFL teams, especially for the offensive line. He played a pivotal role in British Columbia University’s offensive line, contributing to impressive passing and rushing statistics.

During the 2023 season, Manu showcased his skills on the field, allowing only five pressures and two sacks in 212 passing snaps. His consistent performance earned him recognition as an All-Canada first-team selection for the second consecutive year.

Nicknamed “Baby Shaq” due to his imposing stature and passion for basketball, Manu eagerly anticipates the prospect of competing in the NFL. While his scouting reports highlight both strengths and weaknesses, such as athleticism and areas needing refinement in strength and technique, many believe he has the potential to excel with proper coaching.

Despite some reservations, analysts generally view him as a solid seventh-round pick. British Columbia University has a track record of producing football talent, including NFL offensive tackle Dakoda Sheply of the Dallas Cowboys, along with seven players currently active in the Canadian Football League.
