Denver Gazette’s Chris Tomasson reports that Broncos head coach Sean Payton holds a significant admiration for Georgia tight end Brock Bowers.

Bowers is considered one of the top prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft, and Payton’s interest in him adds intrigue to the Broncos’ draft strategy. While it’s uncertain if Bowers will be available at the 12th overall pick, he could emerge as a target for the Broncos, especially if they decide not to prioritize selecting a quarterback in the first round.

Standing at 6-3 and weighing 243 pounds, Bowers has showcased his talent during his three seasons at Georgia, emerging as one of the nation’s premier tight ends. His impressive statistics include 175 receptions for 2,538 yards and 26 touchdowns, along with 19 rushing attempts for 193 yards and 5 touchdowns.

His exceptional performance earned him recognition as the top tight end prospect in the draft by The Athletic’s lead draft analyst Dane Brugler, who ranked him seventh overall in the draft class.

With a versatile skill set that includes explosive pass-catching ability and impressive athleticism, Bowers has drawn comparisons to NFL star George Kittle. He has excelled in various offensive schemes at Georgia and has been a consistent playmaker throughout his college career.

While the Broncos have a pressing need at quarterback, Bowers could offer an immediate impact as a dynamic playmaker on offense. Pairing him with Payton’s offensive expertise could prove to be a winning combination for Denver.

However, selecting a tight end with the 12th overall pick may be considered a luxury, especially for a team in rebuilding mode like the Broncos. Nevertheless, the potential upside of adding Bowers to the roster cannot be overlooked, particularly given his talent and fit within Payton’s system.

Although Bowers is often projected to be selected earlier in the draft, there’s a possibility that he could be available when the Broncos are on the clock. In such a scenario, the team may seriously consider adding him to their roster, further enhancing their offensive firepower for the upcoming season.
