Panthers’ Rookie Minicamp: New Faces, New Numbers

The Carolina Panthers will have their first glimpse of their draft class during this weekend’s rookie minicamp, although some players may sport different jersey numbers by the start of the regular season.

With the exception of first-round pick Xavier Legette, who has already claimed his familiar South Carolina jersey number 17, other rookies are not yet committed to specific numbers for this weekend’s activities.

It’s important to note that jersey numbers are not officially finalized until the commencement of the regular season. Therefore, there may be changes between now and then as the roster undergoes further adjustments.

Here are the jersey numbers assigned to the draft class for this weekend:

– 17 — WR Xavier Legette
– 24 — RB Jonathon Brooks
– 26 — CB Chau Smith-Wade
– 41 — LB Michael Barrett
– 56 — LB Trevin Wallace
– 85 — TE Ja’Tavion Sanders
– 96 — DE Jaden Crumedy

It’s common for rookies to wear different numbers during the preseason. Former Panthers defensive tackle Kawann Short shared his experience of being assigned the number 68 when his preferred number, 99, was unavailable upon his arrival.

Navigating through changes is part of the rookie minicamp process as players acclimate to their new environment and roles. Therefore, temporary jersey numbers are to be expected.
