Report: Taylor Moton Named Most Underrated Player on the Carolina Panthers

Pro Football Focus (PFF) has recognized Taylor Moton as the most underrated player on the Carolina Panthers. Despite the team’s tough season, Moton shone bright with his outstanding performance as the team’s right tackle. According to Zoltán Buday of PFF, Moton ranked fifth in offensive tackle grades from Week 10 onwards and secured the highest pass-blocking grade among right tackles during that stretch.

In 2023, Moton logged 1,149 offensive snaps, allowing only one sack and four penalties, displaying both his dependability and skill. His consistent presence was pivotal for the Panthers’ offensive line, which faced significant challenges elsewhere. Within the team, Moton’s quiet leadership and steady performance are greatly valued, reflected in his status as the highest-paid player on the roster with a $29.74 million cap hit in 2024.

With new head coach Dave Canales at the helm, Moton’s role becomes even more crucial as the Panthers seek improvement. While the team anticipates enhancements with additions like Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis to the offensive line, concerns persist, particularly regarding left tackle Ikem Ekwonu. For the Panthers to advance, others must rise to Moton’s lofty standards. His sustained excellence could even pave the way for a new contract in 2025, cementing his status as a cornerstone of the franchise.
