Many wide receivers in NFL history don’t always receive the recognition they deserve because they were fortunate to play with elite quarterbacks. As a result, they never had the chance to prove themselves without a legendary quarterback throwing to them.
According to Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins, this is true for one former New England Patriots wide receiver.
Analyst Dov Kleiman shared a meme on X, featuring a graph asking which NFL player is overrated despite the hype from fans. Tyreek Hill responded with, “Wes Welker.”
This is a bold statement since Welker is rarely called overrated, but Hill evidently disagrees.

In the original tweet, many names were suggested in response to the question, mostly players fans dislike. However, Trevor Lawrence, Odell Beckham Jr., and Justin Fields were mentioned multiple times.
Welker was largely overlooked in the early years of his career with the Miami Dolphins until he joined the Patriots and quickly became Tom Brady’s favorite target.
Welker had five seasons with over 110 catches while playing with Brady and Peyton Manning, and he shouldn’t be criticized just because he was lucky enough to play with two of the best quarterbacks in history.
Hill should understand this perspective, as he has also played with some top-notch quarterbacks.
