Breaking News: Commanders Sign 28-Year-Old Record-Breaking Kicker…

The Washington Commanders’ plans for the 2024 kicker position were disrupted by a surprising scandal. Shortly after releasing Brandon McManus on June 2 following sexual assault allegations, the Commanders signed Ramiz Ahmed, formerly of the Green Bay Packers and the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions.

Ahmed, who holds the USFL record for the longest field goal at 61 yards, has NFL kickoff experience but has never attempted a field goal or PAT in the league.

Ahmed, a walk-on at Nevada, went undrafted in 2019 and briefly played for the Chicago Bears before joining the USFL. While Commanders head coach Dan Quinn indicated Ahmed has an opportunity to secure the kicker role, it remains uncertain if he will be the final choice.

McManus’ release came after allegations surfaced from two women regarding his actions during a flight to London last year while he was with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Commanders were unaware of the allegations until May 27, prompting discussions among the team about the importance of open communication.

McManus has denied the allegations, and the situation is currently under investigation.
