Texas A&M Football commemorated Lewis as their all-time leading rusher and All-American, while Sports Illustrated hailed him as one of the university’s greatest players. Lewis was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the sixth round of the 1991 NFL Draft and played three seasons with them following an illustrious college career.
Born on November 7, 1968, in Dallas, Lewis attended Carter High School and was renowned as one of the country’s top prep running backs. He earned the nickname “Tank” and was inducted into Texas A&M’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 1998.
