transferring to join head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns. His decision to leave a potential third championship behind was driven by a simple yet powerful reason: family, specifically his young daughter.
“My daughter and the desire to return home to be with her were the primary motivations,” Mitchell explained earlier this week, as reported by Texas athletics.
“I missed being able to physically be with her, hug her, and tell her I love her face-to-face. Our interactions were limited to phone calls and blowing kisses through the phone. Moving to Texas was a way to change that.”
While football holds significant importance, Mitchell emphasized that family takes precedence. Landing with a team that reached the College Football Playoff over his former Georgia squad further validated his decision.
