Breaking News: Maryland Football Lands Commitments from Three-Star Defensive Talents

On Saturday, Maryland football bolstered its commitment haul with two three-star defensive recruits announcing their decisions on Instagram.

Sidney Stewart, an edge rusher from Concordia Prep in Towson, Md., is ranked 97th at his position and 43rd among players from Maryland by the 247Sports Composite. He chose Maryland over offers from Boston College, Indiana, and Virginia Tech.

The other commitment came from defensive lineman Delmar White, a player from Archbishop Spalding in Severn, Md., who is currently unranked by the 247Sports Composite. He had offers from UMass, Maine, and Stony Brook.

 

With these additions, Maryland has now secured five commitments for the 2025 class, bringing their total to 17 players.

On Friday, four-star quarterback Malik Washington committed to Maryland football, with Colin McNamara reporting the news.

Additionally, Maryland football also secured commitments from three-star cornerback Jayden Shipps and three-star linebacker Travares Daniels II on the same day, with McNamara covering those announcements as well.

In other Maryland news, former men’s basketball players Jalen Smith and Aaron Wiggins signed new NBA contracts on Monday.

Maryland Track and Field assistant coach Rudy Winkler qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday.

Moreover, four former Maryland men’s lacrosse players were named to the 2025 U.S. Men’s U20 Training Team, which will compete in South Korea next year.
