Buffalo Bills appoint new permanent play-by-play announcer.

The Buffalo Bills have officially appointed Chris Brown as the team’s new full-time play-by-play announcer. Brown, who had been serving in an interim capacity, now has the “interim” tag removed from his title, solidifying his position as the voice of the Bills.

The announcement was made by the team on social media on Tuesday, confirming Brown’s promotion to the full-time role. Brown has been a familiar voice to Bills fans, providing insightful commentary and coverage. His transition from interim to permanent status marks a new chapter for the team’s broadcasting team.

Chris Brown had already been filling in for John Murphy in the radio booth, a role Murphy vacated after suffering a stroke in December 2022. Despite Murphy’s health improvements, he opted to retire after the 2023 NFL season. Brown now becomes the third full-time play-by-play broadcaster in the history of the Buffalo Bills, following in the footsteps of Van Miller and Murphy.

Aside from his broadcasting duties, Brown co-hosts the weekday talk show One Bills Live on WGR-550 radio. His association with the Bills dates back to 2006, where he has served in various capacities within the organization.

Joining Brown in the broadcast booth on game days will be former Bills center Eric Wood, providing color commentary. This partnership ensures continuity and expertise in delivering insightful commentary to Bills fans.

In a statement released via the team’s website following the announcement, Brown expressed gratitude for the opportunity and acknowledged the responsibility of upholding the Bills’ esteemed broadcasting legacy.”I want to extend my thanks to the Pegula family, Pete Guelli, the entire Bills organization, and Tim Wenger and Allan Davis at Audacy Buffalo. I’ve had the privilege of knowing and learning from legends like Van Miller and John Murphy throughout my career. Being entrusted with this role moving forward is a tremendous honor, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity.
