Report: Dolphins Welcome Back Familiar Face to Bolster Edge Rushing Corps

Defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah #91 of the Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are set to welcome back a familiar face as edge rusher Emmanuel Ogbah is poised to rejoin the team. Ogbah worked out for the Dolphins on Monday, and multiple reports on Tuesday morning confirm that he will be signing with the team. This move comes as the Dolphins seek to strengthen their edge rushing capabilities following Shaq Barrett’s decision to retire.

Ogbah, who spent the past four seasons with the Dolphins, was released in February as part of a cap-saving strategy by the AFC East team. During his tenure with Miami, Ogbah proved to be a valuable asset, recording 18 sacks over his first two seasons. Despite a triceps tear in 2022, he made a strong comeback last year, contributing 5.5 sacks in a rotational role.

The Dolphins have also explored other options to bolster their pass rush, including a workout with Yannick Ngakoue. However, with the signing of Ogbah, they have opted for a familiar and proven performer. As they await the return of Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips, and Cameron Goode, Ogbah will join first-round pick Chop Robinson and fifth-round pick Mohamed Kamara as key components of the team’s defensive front.

Ogbah’s return is a strategic move to ensure depth and experience in Miami’s defensive lineup. His ability to disrupt opposing offenses and generate pressure on the quarterback will be crucial as the Dolphins aim to fortify their defense for the upcoming season. With Ogbah back in the fold, Miami fans can expect a formidable edge rushing presence that will enhance the team’s overall defensive prowess.
