Falcons’ Reckless Pass Puts Player in Critical Danger, Close Call Exposed

The Atlanta Falcons’ offense will undergo significant changes in 2024, and Kyle Pitts might finally fulfill his potential—provided he avoids injury. A viral moment from Monday’s training camp drew negative attention on social media.

Luckily, it was just practice!

Pitts, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft,Falcons made an impressive debut with 1,026 receiving yards and 68 catches as a rookie, though he only scored one touchdown. However, his performance dropped in 2022 and 2023, as he failed to surpass 700 receiving yards in either season. His role in the offense wasn’t conducive to his success.

Due to Pitts’ struggles and a disappointing season, owner Arthur Blank made major changes, overhauling the entire coaching staff. Zac Robinson, who previously served as the passing game coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, was brought in to lead the offense.

The addition of Kirk Cousins is a significant upgrade from Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke—at least on paper.

In Robinson’s offense, Pitts should see increased usage, and Cousins is expected to get him the ball more often. This was evident during Monday’s practice, where the Falcons shared a video of Pitts catching a downfield pass.

However, there was a major issue…

In a real game, the same play could have resulted in a serious injury for Pitts. The pass left him vulnerable to a brutal hit, with cornerback A.J. Terrell having to pull back at the last moment to avoid a catastrophic collision.

Great catch? Absolutely. Good throw? Not really. Smart throw? Definitely not.

Pitts was just inches away from a dangerous situation!
