After Ohio State’s humiliating 14-3 loss to Missouri at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Friday night, fans wasted no time mocking the team on social media.

The Buckeyes managed to score the opening points of the Cotton Bowl with a field goal on their third drive, taking a brief 3-0 lead. However, the remainder of their drives included eight punts, one missed field goal, and a fumble on their final possession.

Missouri deserves recognition for staging a comeback in the fourth quarter and scoring two touchdowns. However, some fans on social media humorously speculated that another factor contributing to Mizzou’s victory over Ohio State might be the presence of the yellow block “M” logo on the Tigers players’ helmets.

Social media users took the opportunity to mock Ohio State and head coach Ryan Day for their loss to another team sporting a yellow “M” logo, akin to their rivals, Michigan. The Wolverines had previously handed the Buckeyes their sole loss of the regular season in a 30-24 matchup in Ann Arbor last month. The online jests highlighted the irony of Ohio State facing defeat once again against a team with a similar “M” emblem.

Ohio State’s struggle against Michigan is evident, having lost their last three matchups against their arch-rivals. The impact of this rivalry defeat seems to linger, even in games against different opponents, creating a shadow of futility for the Buckeyes.
