Bills QB Josh Allen Drops Concerning Update Following Injury in Cardinals Clash

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen played through pain during Sunday’s 34-28 win over the Arizona Cardinals, but uncertainty now looms over his status for Week 2. After suffering a left-hand injury on a 6-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter, Allen’s immediate future is up in the air as the team prepares for a short week ahead of their Thursday Night Football matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

Allen’s injury occurred with 8:44 remaining in the game when he fell hard on his non-throwing hand while diving into the end zone. Though visibly shaken, Allen managed to finish the game after having his hand taped on the sidelines. The injury prompted backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky to begin warming up, but Allen’s toughness prevailed as he led his team to victory.

However, Allen was noncommittal about his status moving forward when speaking to reporters post-game.

“I’m not a doctor… I just kinda landed on it,” Allen said. He added that further testing will be conducted early this week to assess the severity of the injury.

The timing of Allen’s injury couldn’t be worse for Buffalo. With a quick turnaround before traveling to face their AFC East rivals, the Dolphins, in just four days, the team may be forced to rely on Trubisky should Allen be unable to play.

Allen has been one of the most durable quarterbacks in the NFL, not missing a game due to injury since his rookie season. However, the coming days will determine whether the Bills’ star signal-caller can extend that streak or if Trubisky will be called upon to take the reins in a critical early-season divisional clash.

As fans await the results of Allen’s medical evaluation, the Bills must prepare for the possibility of entering Miami with a different quarterback under center—a scenario that could dramatically shape their chances in a high-stakes game.
