The Cleveland Browns have made significant roster moves ahead of their Week 6 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, including the release of wide receiver James Proche II. The team announced Proche’s departure on Saturday, following a season in which the former sixth-round pick bounced between the practice squad and active roster. Though limited in offensive snaps, Proche did contribute as a return specialist, but his role wasn’t enough to solidify his place on the team.

Proche, a 2020 draft selection out of SMU by the Baltimore Ravens, joined the Browns last season and appeared in 14 games. His release highlights the Browns’ adjustments as they continue to shuffle their roster amid a challenging 1-4 start to the season.

Alongside Proche’s exit, Cleveland made several other key moves, activating linebacker Mohamoud Diabate and defensive tackles Maurice Hurst II and rookie Mike Hall Jr. from the Commissioner’s Exempt list. Hall’s addition is particularly notable, as he served a five-game suspension following an August arrest. The Browns drafted Hall in the second round with hopes of bolstering their defensive line, and his debut alongside Myles Garrett could bring much-needed impact to the defense.

On the offensive side, star wide receiver Amari Cooper has struggled, sparking trade rumors as the Browns continue to falter. Cooper, who has just 20 catches for 208 yards and two touchdowns this season, remains focused on the team’s success despite the whispers surrounding his future in Cleveland. The Browns, who rank near the bottom of the league in offensive production, face pressure to turn things around quickly, especially in the passing game.

Cleveland enters Week 6 as 8.5-point underdogs to the Philadelphia Eagles, with their season hanging in the balance.
