Carolina Panthers starting quarterback Andy Dalton was involved in a car accident on Tuesday in Charlotte, according to a report from CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones. Dalton was traveling with his wife, three children, and the family dog at the time of the incident. Fortunately, no one in the vehicle, including Dalton, was transported by emergency medical personnel.

While the full extent of Dalton’s condition remains unclear, the Panthers have confirmed that he is being evaluated by the team’s medical staff. Further updates on his availability for this week’s game against the Denver Broncos are expected in the coming days.

Dalton’s last appearance came in the Panthers’ 24-10 loss to the Washington Commanders, where he struggled, completing 11 of 16 passes for 93 yards with two interceptions. In his first season with Carolina, Dalton has thrown for 989 yards, seven touchdowns, and six interceptions across five starts. Despite his efforts, the Panthers have managed only one win during his tenure under center.

With the Panthers scheduled to face the Broncos this Sunday, Dalton’s health will be a major storyline to watch. If he is unable to play, it’s likely that rookie Bryce Young, the team’s former No. 1 overall pick, will be called upon to start in his place. Young has been waiting for an opportunity to get back on the field, and this could be his chance if Dalton is sidelined.

As the Panthers prepare to travel out west, the team and fans alike are hoping for good news on Dalton’s health and his availability for the crucial matchup.
