Packers’ Jaire Alexander Drawing Trade Interest From AFC Contenders
The Green Bay Packers have never shied away from making bold moves in the offseason. Over the past three years, the Packers have parted ways with franchise cornerstone players like Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams. While Aaron Jones wasn’t technically traded, he was swapped for Josh Jacobs in a direct offseason deal.
Now, another big name could be on the trade block: Jaire Alexander. The talented cornerback is rumored to be a potential trade candidate this offseason, and it’s easy to see why. With his elite skill set, Alexander is bound to attract significant interest from multiple teams.
According to NFL Rumors, both the Los Angeles Chargers and Baltimore Ravens are expected to express interest in acquiring Alexander.
While still a rumor at this stage, reports have surfaced multiple times this week linking the Chargers to Alexander. The Chargers are evaluating their roster with an eye toward bolstering their defense for a deeper playoff push. As Anthony Palacios of Last Word On Sports explains, Alexander could be the missing piece.
“Alexander could be the perfect man in this situation since the Chargers need to prove next season they can make a deep playoff run,” Palacios wrote. “The pass defense has been aggressive this entire season under head coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Jesse Minter. Alexander’s presence could elevate their secondary to the next level.”
However, whether the Chargers or any team would be willing to give up significant assets for a player with a recent history of injuries remains uncertain. Alexander has played just 14 games over the last two seasons but still has two years remaining on his current deal.
