The Kansas City Chiefs are heading into their seventh consecutive AFC Championship Game, with Arrowhead Stadium once again set to host this pivotal playoff showdown.
After a stellar 15-2 regular-season record and securing the AFC’s top seed, the Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans 23-14 in the Divisional Round.
As they prepare to face the Buffalo Bills for a chance to reach Super Bowl 59, there is some concerning news surrounding their star quarterback.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Patrick Mahomes is dealing with an ankle injury ahead of Sunday’s championship game.
Although the three-time Super Bowl champion was listed on the injury report, there is some positive news—he fully participated in practice.
“#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was listed on the injury report with an ankle, but was a full participant,” Rapoport tweeted.
Mahomes has been playing through this ankle issue without significant setbacks, and the timing of the report adds some tension as the Chiefs get ready for their big game against the Bills. However, Mahomes’ full participation in practice suggests he’s prepared for the challenge ahead.
The injury report also included offensive guard Mike Caliendo, offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor, and cornerback Jaylen Watson. The good news for the Chiefs is that all three were full participants in practice, meaning they should be available for Sunday’s matchup.
