The Houston Texans are gearing up to face the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday, marking a rematch from their Christmas Eve encounter at NRG Stadium.

During the previous game, the Browns secured a decisive 34-22 victory, largely credited to their formidable defense, prominently featuring star cornerback Denzel Ward.

However, just two days before the playoff clash, Ward’s availability for the game is uncertain due to a knee injury sustained during Thursday’s practice. The Browns officially designated Ward as questionable for the matchup. Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that Ward participated in practice on a limited basis but provided no further details on his condition.

Ward, recently selected to his third Pro Bowl in six seasons with Cleveland, played a pivotal role in the Browns’ top-ranked defense. He concluded the regular season with 34 tackles, two interceptions, 11 passes defended, and a forced fumble in 13 games, with 11 starts. Notably, Ward isn’t the sole concern for Cleveland in the secondary, as safety Grant Delpit has been ruled out of the game due to a groin injury.

Delpit, another key contributor to the Browns’ defense this season, recorded 63 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three passes defended, and one interception. Additionally, kicker Dustin Hopkins (hamstring) and wide receiver Cedric Tillman (concussion) have also been ruled out of Saturday’s contest.
