Denver Broncos’ Impressive 2024 Season Met with Disrespectful ‘B+’ Grade from Bleacher Report
The Denver Broncos defied expectations in 2024, delivering a remarkable season that saw them return to the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Yet, despite their success, Bleacher Report handed them a shockingly low ‘B+’ grade, leaving many fans questioning the fairness of the assessment.
From Doubts to Dominance
Heading into the 2024 season, many analysts predicted the Broncos would struggle to win more than five games. Some even mocked Denver’s decision to draft quarterback Bo Nix with the 12th overall pick, calling it a “panic pick.” And after an 0-2 start, critics were quick to celebrate what they thought was another lost season.
But the doubters were proven wrong. Over the next 15 games, Denver finished 10-5, clinching a playoff berth and establishing Nix as a true franchise quarterback.
Bleacher Report’s Controversial Grade
Bleacher Report acknowledged Denver’s progress but still gave them only a ‘B+’ grade. Here’s their reasoning:
“The Broncos are ahead of schedule in their rebuild, despite major salary cap constraints due to Russell Wilson’s dead money.
Bo Nix impressed with 3,775 passing yards, 29 touchdowns, and a 66.3% completion rate, while also rushing for 430 yards and four scores. The defense ranked seventh in total yards allowed and third in points allowed.
Despite a crushing 31-7 playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills, Denver exceeded expectations, finishing with a 10-7 record after DraftKings set their preseason win total at just 5.5.”
Did Denver Deserve an ‘A+’?
Many fans and analysts argue that the Broncos’ performance deserved an A or even an A+. Given their nearly $100 million in dead cap space and lack of elite offensive weapons, the coaching staff squeezed every bit of potential out of the roster.
Now, as the 2025 offseason approaches, Denver has a much healthier cap situation and the flexibility to make key moves. If they can build on this success, Bo Nix could emerge as an MVP candidate, and the Broncos could be primed for a deep playoff run next season.
If a 10-win season was only worth a ‘B+’, just imagine what kind of grade they’ll get when they win 12 games in 2025…
