Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown made a heartwarming visit to 10-year-old Andre Howard, who was injured in the plane crash in Northeast Philadelphia last month.
Howard’s parents shared photos with Action News on Wednesday, showing the family with Brown and the Lombardi Trophy. The young boy has been recovering in the hospital since the January 31 crash, which tragically claimed the lives of seven people, including a young girl and her mother from Mexico.
At the time of the crash, Howard was in the car with his father and siblings when the crash occurred near the Roosevelt Mall. In a heroic act, the boy shielded his sister from flying debris.
“I turn around and he has metal outside of his head,” Howard’s father recalled to Action News.
In a touching moment, after undergoing emergency surgery, Howard’s first words were about the Super Bowl. “He asked me, ‘Daddy, what’s today?’ I said, ‘Monday.’ He then asked, ‘OK, wait. We didn’t play yesterday did we?’ ‘No, you didn’t miss the Super Bowl,'” his father shared, describing Howard as a huge Eagles fan.
Before the Super Bowl, Brown had tweeted his well wishes for Howard’s recovery and promised to visit him after the game.
Howard’s mother, Lala Sayon Hamiel, expressed her gratitude on Facebook: “The amount of love and support you gave being so patient and calling Saquon Barkley for him was beyond appreciated. Thank you for everything and bringing that WIN home for ‘TRE,’ the world’s greatest SUPERHERO.”
