Broncos Add Veteran WR Trent Sherfield on Two-Year Deal

The Denver Broncos have bolstered their receiving corps with the addition of veteran wide receiver Trent Sherfield. The team officially announced the signing of the unrestricted free agent to a two-year contract on Thursday.
Sherfield, an eight-year NFL veteran, most recently played for the Minnesota Vikings during the 2024 season. He appeared in all 17 games, recording eight receptions for 83 yards and one touchdown. While he played just 16 percent of Minnesota’s offensive snaps, Sherfield was a key contributor on special teams, logging 49 percent of the unit’s snaps.
The 6-foot-1, 206-pound receiver has built a career on his versatility and reliability. Since entering the league as an undrafted free agent out of Vanderbilt in 2018, Sherfield has suited up for five other teams, including the Arizona Cardinals (2018-2020), San Francisco 49ers (2021), Miami Dolphins (2022), and Buffalo Bills (2023). He has played at least 40 percent of his team’s special teams snaps in five of the last six seasons, showcasing his value beyond just the receiving game.
Sherfield’s most productive offensive season came in 2022 with the Dolphins, where he hauled in 30 catches for 417 yards and two touchdowns. While his offensive role has varied from team to team, his experience and special teams prowess make him a valuable depth addition for Denver as they continue to shape their roster for the upcoming season.
With Sherfield’s signing, the Broncos gain a veteran presence who can contribute both as a pass-catcher and a special teams asset. As Denver looks to improve its offensive firepower in 2025, Sherfield’s experience and versatility could play a crucial role in the team’s success.
