The reasons why Broncos DB head coach exists…

Sources informed The Denver Post on Monday that Christian Parker, the defensive backs coach for the Denver Broncos, is anticipated to depart and join the coaching staff of the Philadelphia Eagles. This news was initially reported by ESPN’s Dan Graziano.

Having spent the last three seasons with the Broncos, Parker previously worked as a defensive quality control coach for the Green Bay Packers for two seasons. In the previous month, the 32-year-old coach interviewed for defensive coordinator positions with the Green Bay Packers and the New England Patriots; however, those positions were filled by other candidates.

The Eagles recently appointed Vic Fangio as their new defensive coordinator, and Parker is set to reunite with him. Fangio was the head coach for the Broncos in 2021, during which Parker served as part of the coaching staff.

Before entering the NFL, Parker gained experience as a defensive analyst at Notre Dame and Texas A&M. He also held roles as a defensive backs coach at Virginia State and Norfolk State.

Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph has consistently praised Parker, referring to him as a “star” and a “great partner” before the start of the 2023 season. Joseph highlighted Parker’s intelligence, work ethic, and positive rapport with players.

In the most recent season, two of Parker’s defensive backs, cornerback Pat Surtain II (NFLPA, Pro Football Writers) and safety Justin Simmons (AP, second team), received All-Pro honors.
