The Denver Broncos had a lackluster performance on offense during the 2023 season, landing 19th in points, 26th in total yards, and 24th in passing.
In an effort to bolster their offense, Denver has begun making changes during the offseason. These adjustments include parting ways with Russell Wilson, trading Jerry Jeudy to Cleveland, and renegotiating the contract of one of their wide receivers.
 The Denver Broncos have restructured the contract of their starting wide receiver.
Per Field Yates of ESPN, Denver and Tim Patrick have reached an agreement to adjust his contract terms. His base salary has been reduced from $9.5 million to the veteran minimum of $1.125 million, and his cap number has been lowered from $15.572 million to $7.197 million. This adjustment results in freeing up $8 million in cap space for the 2024 season.
Additionally, Patrick has the opportunity to earn an extra $1.2 million through incentives and $170,000 in per-game roster bonuses, amounting to $10,000 per game.
Following this recent adjustment to the roster, Denver is expected to have approximately $30.5 million in available cap space.
           Tim Patrick agreed to a three-year contract extension in 2021.
On November 19, Patrick signed a three-year, $34 million contract extension, which means he will become an unrestricted free agent in 2025.
During the 2021 season, Patrick played in all 16 games, where he caught 53 passes out of 85 targets for 734 yards and five touchdowns. This translated to an average of 3.3 receptions per game, 8.6 yards per target, 13.8 yards per catch, and 45.9 yards per game.
Unfortunately, Patrick suffered a torn ACL during practice on August 2, 2022, causing him to miss the entire 2022 season. Similarly, he missed the entire 2023 season due to tearing his Achilles during practice on July 31.
     What can be expected of the Denver Broncos’ receiving unit in the upcoming season?
Depending on the decisions made regarding Courtland Sutton during the offseason, it’s anticipated that Denver’s primary trio of receivers will consist of Tim Patrick, Courtland Sutton, and Marvin Mims.
With Tim Patrick confirmed for the 2024 season, the hope is that he can maintain his health throughout the year.
